ASKLEPIEION OF BERGAMA
Monumental Health Institution of the Ancient World

AUTHORS: Tamer Akça, İlter Uzel
Bergama Municipality Publications, Mersin 2018

This book was written to introduce all aspects of the Pergamon Asklepieion, a world cultural heritage. Of course, we accept that there will be shortcomings. However, in addition to these and similar studies to be carried out to analyze the past, the primary goal should be to turn the Pergamon Asklepieion into a living center of medical attraction and introduce it to world culture. More precisely, the Asklepieion of Pergamon should be restored with an international project and turned into a center ready for use for scientific and cultural purposes. The history of medicine and psychotherapy studies to be carried out within such a center will also be a kind of tribute to the memory of the Physician God Asclepius.
